The statistics are alarming with more than 80% of all cardiac deaths happening at home, work or during your spare time and each year more than 6,000 Victorians suffer heart attacks away from hospital, sadly only one in 10 survive.
Kinder Australia’s ongoing commitment to creating a sound & safe work environment for all its employees has seen recent investments in an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) unit, which in case of emergency, can mean the difference between life and death.
Sudden cardiac arrests can’t be predicted and normally occurs without warning and at times with no real symptoms…every second counts….
“For every minute defibrillation is delayed, the chance of survival for a person in cardiac arrest decreases by nine percent. The early use of a defibrillator by members of the public can significantly increase a person’s chances of survival.” (Source: Ambulance Victoria Website)
When such cardiac medical emergencies happen in the workplace its reassuring to know that a lifesaving unit is available on the premise and vital certified CPR/first aid trained staff are on standby should a medical emergency arise.
“Kinder Australia has also taken the initiative to register our on-site AED unit with Ambulance Victoria and Country Fire Authority (CFA), this important step aims to link AEDs within our local community as well installing a highly visible sign at the front of its Braeside Head Office premises to bring to the attention, the availability of this important and potentially lifesaving unit for the benefit of all”, says Neil Kinder – CEO, Kinder Australia.
