K-Superline®: 2x Wear Life. 50% Faster Change-Outs. Zero Hot Work.

OVERVIEW

A major South Australian construction materials producer was experiencing excessive wear within a high-impact screen discharge chute handling 50 mm minus material at approximately 250 tonnes per hour.  Frequent liner replacements were creating unnecessary maintenance downtime and exposing maintenance personnel to hot work risks.

Seeking a more durable and maintenance-friendly solution, the site partnered with Kinder to trial K-Superline® B93 Engineered Polyurethane.

CHALLENGE

  • Bisalloy liners wearing out within only a few months.
  • Approximately four hours required for each liner replacement.
  • Hot work required for every change-out, increasing maintenance risk.
  • High labour requirements and production downtime during maintenance.

The customer had been using Bisalloy steel liners in a high-wear chute application.  Due to the abrasive nature of the material, the liners required replacement every few months.

Each change-out involved cutting, welding and reinstalling new liners, requiring approximately four hours of maintenance time per replacement. In addition to production interruptions, the process involved hot work, increasing safety risks and labour requirements.

The customer approached Kinder to identify an alternative lining solution that could improve service life, withstand the demanding abrasive conditions while simplifying installation and reducing maintenance frequency.

SOLUTION

Following an on-site assessment, Kinder’s Field Applications team recommended K-Superline® B93 Engineered Polyurethane to replace the existing Bisalloy steel liners.

Engineered for severe abrasion and impact applications, K-Superline® B93 provides outstanding wear resistance while its resilient polyurethane construction absorbs impact and resists premature wear in high-load chute environments. The lightweight liners are easily fabricated on site using conventional tools, eliminating the need for cutting, grinding or welding. By removing hot work from the installation process, the solution significantly improved maintenance safety while reducing labour requirements and change-out times.

Beyond supplying the wear liners, Kinder worked closely with the customer to identify additional opportunities to improve wear performance throughout the crushing plant. K-Superline® B93 with wear indicator and G83 formula combination wear protection solutions was also recommended and implemented, delivering ongoing maximum reliability and reinforcing Kinder’s consultative approach to improving plant performance, maintenance efficiency and total cost of ownership.

RESULTS

  • 2× liner service life compared to Bisalloy.
  • 50% faster liner change-outs, reducing maintenance time from four hours to two.
  • No hot work required, improving maintenance safety.
  • Lightweight design for easier handling and installation.

Since installing K-Superline® B93 in November 2025, the customer has achieved outstanding measurable improvements in both maintenance efficiency and equipment reliability.

The improved wear life has reduced maintenance frequency while lowering labour requirements and minimising production interruptions. By replacing traditional steel liners with K-Superline® Engineered Polyurethane, the customer has achieved a safer, more efficient and lower-maintenance wear solution.

“The Kinder representative was very helpful and had excellent knowledge of their products. We discussed several issues around our crushing plant and they came up with some good solutions which are still in place and we haven’t had any issues since”, reported the Quarry Manager.

Following the success of the initial K-Superline® B93 installation, additional combination Kinder wear protection solutions were implemented to tackle specific wear challenges across the crushing plant and continue to perform reliably.  The project has reinforced the customer’s confidence in Kinder’s engineered wear solutions and the long-term operational benefits they deliver in demanding materials handling applications.
