Today Sean Kinder presented his White Paper titled “Engineered Cast Polyurethane’s Uses in Bulk Materials Handling” at the 12th International Conference on Bulk Materials Storage, Handling and Transportation (ICBMH).
The 3-day event being held in Darwin this year, has a global program of ‘by invitation’ only speakers that has been coordinated by the ASBSH (Australia Society for Bulk Solids Handling). The mission of the ASBSH is to promote research and development, technology transfer and training between universities, research establishments, engineering manufacturers and industrial users.
Sean’s paper presents the findings of related case studies that commenced in 2013 with the introduction of a new generation polyurethane conveyor skirting. Laboratory and practical testing provided results with the polyurethane exceeding the performance of quality rubber skirting products by 8-10 times.
The asset material present and its installation environment were the tested variables that were compared against several polyurethane durometers looking at rebound resilience, drop height impact, particle size and production rates. These findings were recorded over time with the cooperation of onsite conveyor engineering and maintenance personnel.
