Eraser™: One Cleaner. All Conveyors. Complete Site Confidence.

OVERVIEW

Our client is a leading sand processing operation located in Gippsland, Victoria, supplying high-quality construction and industrial sands to regional markets. conventional cleaner systems.
In sand handling applications, effective removal of carryback is essential to maintaining conveyor performance and reducing maintenance burden. Poor belt cleaning can lead to material build-up, increased housekeeping, accelerated component wear and higher maintenance exposure.  To improve conveyor reliability and simplify maintenance, the site partnered with Kinder Australia to identify a belt cleaning solution capable of delivering consistent performance while reducing adjustment and servicing requirements.

CHALLENGE

  • Existing belt cleaner delivered inconsistent cleaning performance.
  • Spring tensioning arrangement was difficult to set and maintain.
  • Structural constraints limited access for adjustment and maintenance.
  • Refurbishment and blade replacement activities were labour intensive.
  • Excessive maintenance time required to maintain cleaner performance.

The sand plant had experienced ongoing challenges with its existing belt cleaner arrangement, which incorporated an inferior polyurethane blade and traditional spring tensioning system.   Maintaining optimal cleaning performance required frequent adjustment, while limited access around the conveyor structure made tensioning and servicing difficult and time-consuming.  Routine maintenance activities often became complex refurbishment projects, requiring significant labour and planning to complete safely.

The site required a cleaner solution that would not only improve belt cleaning performance but also simplify adjustment, maintenance, and component replacement.
Recognising the impact that cleaner maintenance was having on productivity and workforce resources, the site engaged Kinder to identify a more practical and reliable alternative.

SOLUTION

Following a detailed site review and technical consultation, Kinder recommended the Eraser™ Primary Belt Cleaner.

Designed to provide effective carryback control while simplifying maintenance requirements, the Eraser™ Primary Cleaner incorporates a robust polyurethane blade and engineered tensioning system that allows operators to quickly achieve and maintain optimal cleaning pressure.

Kinder’s technical team worked closely with site personnel throughout the installation process to ensure correct setup and commissioning. The installation was completed efficiently, with site personnel describing the process as a swift operation supported by practical technical guidance.

The simplicity of the Eraser™ design also transformed ongoing maintenance requirements. The straightforward tensioning and maintenance design significantly reduced the complexity associated with cleaner adjustments, inspections, and blade replacement activities.

RESULTS

  • Standardised across all conveyors on site.
  • Selected as the preferred cleaner for future plant expansions.
  • Simplified maintenance requiring only basic hand tools.
  • Reduced labour requirements for cleaner servicing and adjustment.
  • Improved confidence in conveyor cleaning performance.

Following commissioning, the Eraser™ Primary Belt Cleaner delivered immediate operational benefits. Maintenance personnel reported significantly easier access, adjustment and servicing compared to previous systems, reducing the time and resources required to maintain effective belt cleaning performance.

The cleaner’s reliability and ease of maintenance quickly gained support across the operation, resulting in the system being rolled out across all conveyors throughout the site. The success of the installation was such that management committed to incorporating Eraser™ cleaners into future plant developments from day one.

Beyond the belt cleaner installation, the site’s confidence in Kinder Australia’s technical capabilities continued to grow. Following the success of the Eraser™ system, the operation engaged Kinder Australia on additional projects involving conveyor wear lining, belt tracking, and transfer point optimisation.

By simplifying maintenance activities, reducing servicing complexity, and providing reliable belt cleaning performance, the Eraser™ Primary Belt Cleaner has become a key component of the site’s conveyor reliability strategy.
