In windy and dry conditions dust is more likely to leave quarry and mine sites, so tighter control is needed at this time.  Amid growing concerns over the potential health impacts of dust generated from mine activities (Silicosis is still one of the three most prevalent occupationally-related dust diseases in Australia), new standards on dust control have been enforced.
